PETA Nudity
PETA, two of whose employees are now on trial for felony cruelty to animals, may be trying to divert attention from its own animal killing through the medium of a pretty woman stripping to reveal full frontal nudity. Kind of gives a whole new meaning to "in your face." The song afterwards sings of hating the whole human race.
Yup. That's PETA: As attention addicted, misanthropic, and fanatical as ever.

If I didn't know better, Wesley, I'd swear that's a parody! Her droning voice only adds to the impression too.
What is it with activist groups and getting naked anyway? You would think the realization that it simply invites ridicule would eventually hit them.
Frankly, I think they may be losing it. This doesn't gain them a thing, it seems to me.
You're reading too much into it. It's basically a way to get people to click on the video and listen to her speech.
If you watched the video to see her nude, then you listened to her message. That was the point.
Btw - I think PETA should be praised for this, not criticized.
Too many times, I've walked past PETA protests showing mangled animals on displays. In NYC here, I once saw them with a skinned mink to protest fur.
Now, I have strong stomach, but that's the equivalent of those pro-life extremists showing pictures of aborted fetuses.
I'm all for free-speech and all, but I think it's a better tactic to find a less gross way of making your point. Show a picture of a smiling, cute little child or animal.
Or, if they want to make their point by taking off their clothes, fine - just no more skinned animals please.
Wesley:
Oh, this is typical of PETA, actually. They've moaned and groaned about the fact that they've had their spots rejected by major networks because of their message, when they had "everything the viewing audience wants" - sex. They understand that the audience they want are younger people, preferably male, because when you hook someone young you usually get them for life, or at least a long time, and males still have more financial, economic, and political power than females.
Also notice almost all the models they have in their ads are pale skinned. Again, they're looking for the people with the most money and power, and they think that's the "white" population. If anybody has seen dark complected models on PETA's sites, let me know, but the darkest complexions I've seen were medium tan, and all the girls have mostly traditional European features.
It's a sexist, racist ploy to get dough from a gullible segment of society that might be willing to put up with a droning ad to see a girl strip down, and there wasn't even anything overtly sexual about the poses or her behavior! PETA should grow up.

It is gross. I'm pro-life and I think that pictures of dismembered babies are gross, and I am for humane treatment of animals and I think what PETA shows is gross. It's a shock treatment. It gets people's attention and forces an emotional response, positive or negative. Unless you've actually had to kill an animal and know what it feels like, though, all your emotions are empty and reactionary. Holding a life in your hands as you willfully end it is pretty powerful - it can either make you indifferent to suffering, or it makes you aware of how precious life is and forces you to take responsibility for all lives around you.
PETA is pure gut-level. All reaction and no substance. I could do without them.
PETA is indeed pure gut level, but also with absolutism thrown in. It appeals to young people who have been taught to feel rather than think. And, for those weary of anything goes relativism, it brings something to believe in absolutely.
The naked woman is indeed intended to bring in boys--and perhaps, like the Raelians, promise a little nookie if one joins the cult.
