NBC/MSNBC News: Despicable Character Assassins
NBC News and MSNBC have devolved from journalists into despicable character assassins. Readers of SHS and others will recall the fraudulent story pushed by the Left Web site the Daily Kos. Someone doctored a photo of the Palin family taken in 2006, and claimed it was from early 2008. Because Bristol Palin, the Palins' oldest daughter, had a small tummy, the Kos claimed she was pregnant at the time and hence, the real mother of Trig Palin.
This despicable lie was actually chased by MSM journalists with the tongues hanging out until it became clear that it was bogus. Vanity Fair even insinuated, in the guise of satire, that Todd Palin was not Trigg's father after the Bristol story fell apart. Meanwhile, despite the NYT knocking it down eventually, blogger Andrew Sullivan, as far as I know, never did give up the story.
Well, now NBC/MSNBC have snidely brought the lie up again. From the story:
There's been plenty of speculation that Levi Johnston, the father of Tripp, Sarah Palin's first acknowledged grandchild, has been giving interviews to the likes of Larry King and Tyra Banks so that he can land an endorsement or modeling deal. Vanity Fair did some poking about to see whether a modeling contract could be in Johnston's future, and the prospects look bleak.Get it? "first acknowledged grandchild:" Wink. Wink.
This isn't journalism, it is character assassination by innuendo. But why do they loathe her so much that they will continue this defamation? My theory: She dared to give birth to a baby with Down syndrome when all the better people know that eugenic abortion is the way to go.
Whatever the cause, NBC/MSNBC illustrate all that has gone wrong with journalism today.

Another example of "choice". Her choice isn't valid because other people don't like it. You get choices until it makes someone else feel uncomfortable.
Newspaper sales have been on the decline. They blame the internet, but I think the coverage of the presidential election did it for many people.I come from a Wesleyan-methodist heritage. We boycotted those who promoted slavery.Sure would like to see it happen to the media...
I no longer watch NBC or MSNBC because of how they cover issues impacting the disabled community.
Wesley: you're breaking your own rules. This article was 5% bioethics and 95% politics.
Bristol Palin was pregnant with Tripp shortly after Trig was born.
It's a miracle! Tripp Palin has to be some kind of divinly created child, for what purpose we do not know, but as it's biologically impossible for her to have been pregnant with Tripp at the same time she was giving birth to Trig, (gasp!) then something bizarre and totally supernatural has to have happened! Hallelujah! Praise God!
All kidding aside, if there really was a scandal like that, then why didn't the doctors of the facility or facilities where Tripp and Trig were born come out waving a banner shouting, "Hey, we have proof the baby isn't Sarah's! Someone pay us big bucks for the exclusive interview!"?
And on top of that, Sarah Palin claiming her grandson as her own son is a *major* offense to the IRS, which has very specific rules about who someone can claim as a dependent, under what circumstances, and for what lenght of time. If there were any irregularities, the IRS would have already been beating at her door, like they were at the door of a fellow Texan who had to prove that her son was a real person, because there was something unusual about the birth certificate that made the IRS believe the boy was a made-up body specifically created to give the family in question a tax break. The IRS did a background search, interviewed the kid's teachers, etc. You know someone there would've spilled about her lying if there was an irregularity in Trig's parantage.
Then there's the issue of Trig's birth certificate being filed with the... what do they use in Alaska? The County Clerk's office? Again, if there were irregularities, then the local officials would have a field day pointing them out, because nothing says lovin' - excuse me, nothing says "exclusive interview with Oprah and possible book deals" - like a political scandal, especially where a mentally disabled person is concerned.
I mean, come on, Snopes.com has better, more interesting urban legends available for anybody who feels like enjoying a good scandal. This is too far fetched.
Then again....
...You know, I could probably make a fortune sending out Nigerian Official letters to the people who buy into the "Trig isn't Sarah's son" bull. I mean, if they're willing to swallow *that,* then there's a good shot that they'll swallow *anything.*
Hey, Wesley, want to help me scam some gullible fools in the MSM?
