SHS Spike in Growth Indication of Increased Interest in Issues Bioethical?
We've had a real growth spurt here at SHS. In the last month. We have gone from about 30,000 visits and 25,000 discreet visitors every thirty days to nearly 40,000 visits from about 31,000 visitors. And the last few days have had about 2000 visitors a day. We're not the Daily Kos or Little Green Footballs, but we're not chopped liver either, as the old saying goes. Add in the other blogs reporting on what we do here and some direct media use of my commentary, and the SHS project can only be called a success.
I think we should attribute much of the recent growth to the news:The Final Exit Network suicide arrests, the Obama embryonic stem cell funding change, futile care rearing its ugly head in Idaho, etc. But it could also indicate a more general interest in all things bioethical. I hope so, because the matters with which we grapple here are among the most important facing our society and the world.
Whatever the cause, I am gratified. There may also be a change in the works, that if it pans out, could increase traffic dramatically. More if and as that potential develops.

You are also getting linked to by lots of folks (like me). I'm a BIG fan and always look forward to reading your posts. Thank you for your hard work...
I also post links on my Facebook account to lots of your entries here for my friends to read. I know lots of them do end up clicking the link to read it because they comment over there.
Merci Deborah.
Yeah, and then it's definitely the sort of thing that gets passed around. I post it, then someone else likes it and they post the link, and one of their friends likes it and posts the link, and so on.
Well if Obama got elected with the help of internet, it's even more fun to read what Adrienne and Deborah just said. A good thing, too, since newspapers are going out of business at the same time tyranny is rising.
Wesley: I don't understand; it says 42K+ up where the flags are here, but you just said 30K. And whatever the potential development you just mentioned is, I just know it's gonna work out great. In fact even without it I was estimating 100K by the end of March, the way things are going.
Adrienne: Is that your dog? Adorable!
Imagine what our pets and other non-human animals would say if they could post here! They would stand with us on the issue of the culture of death, because they have sense; unity with them is more productive than viewing animal rights as a threat, and some day I'll convince re that...Well SHS knew I'd get around to posting that concept eventually...
Most of the people that visit here are probably transhumanists.
I've seen all the pro arguments a million times, so now I'm at a point where the con is relatively new and interesting.
What is a transhumanist? And whatever they are, are there that many of them?
Transhumanists want to create a post human species through biotech, cybertch, nano tech, etc. Do a search of this blog and type it into Google or Yahoo.
We have some pro transhumanists who post commnents here, and some opposed. I oppose.
lanthe - That's Elle. I also have Sophie (dog), Angela (cat), and Erica (the illegal alien cat who chose us as her new "nation". However, she refuses to learn our language and continues to speak in cat)
When we get this transhumanism thing rolling can I be tall and thin, and, oh yea, a bit younger would be nice?? ;-)
Whatever you're doing right with your blog, spread some over this way!
Adrienne: Elle is ADORABLE!!! I know Sophie, Angela, and Erica are too! I have Bootsie, Athena, Rudy and Mary Jo (both named after U.S Attorneys whom they resemble) and Angelina Sunshine -- all cats. If I were any good with a camera I'd post theirs -- what a great idea.
There are TransNeptunian planets -- hypothetical points that behave like planetary effect; of them, only Pluto actually had been discovered yet the last I heard. Would transhumans be like that, not sure they actually exist but something seems to be going to to lead us to believe that they do? Why would anyone want to DO that? It would be like toys. It's work enough being humans. What are they supposed to do, or be? Frankenstein? Schwarzenegger? Would they have tattoos and piercing? Can't anybody leave anything ALONE? Isn't life good ENOUGH?
