The Moral Equivalent of Infanticide in the UK
Labels: Infanticide
Babies who survive abortion are left to die in the UK each year, according to reports. From the story:Botched abortions mean that scores of babies are being born alive and left to die, an official report has revealed. A total of 66 infants survived NHS termination attempts in one year alone, it emerged. Rather than dying at birth as was intended, they were able to breathe unaided. About half were alive for an hour, while one survived ten hours.
The figures are the first to give a national picture of the number of babies who survive abortion but are left to die. Experts previously believed the phenomenon was limited to a handful of cases a year. The babies were aborted using a drug to soften the cervix and induce labour. Once born no medical help is offered.
This is an abomination. Refusing to treat these babies is outrageous medical neglect that crosses the line into infanticide.
The United States has the Born Alive Infants Protection Act and the Baby Doe regulations to protect against just for such circumstances. Will the UK at last say, "Enough?"

I hope the Bush administration has finally put some teeth into the law. For the longest time there was no real penalty to it.
Jill Stanek RN who exposed this evil practice at "Christ" Hospital in Illinois. What a name for a hospital that throws away babies. It's sure a corruption of Jesus' saying, let the children come to me.
Concerned Women for American says Christ Hospital did 10-20 a year and "Chicago’s Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center disclosed they do about 100 each year."
And we think we can trust ethics to the medical profession? God help us.
This is disgusting. What in heaven's name would motivate someone to leave a baby that's born alive to die?! If you're looking at this little baby suffering and its moving and crying, why would you not feel moved to help? God save the people, man.
I'm going to guess that since they see the child in the womb on ultrasound they aren't any more moved by the child outside the womb than inside. What's the difference? It's a total disregard for life. To me it's about the baby and not the heartless doctors who do this stuff, but I have to say that I would hate to live at that level of humanity where you don't have the reaction you are talking about. I just thank God that the fleet of abortionists are aging and fewer and fewer are signing up for it. I agree with you. How can you not be moved?
