And Those Adult Stem Cell Hits Just Keep on Coming

A man's jaw was refashioned using adult stem cells from his own fat. From the story:

Scientists in Finland said they had replaced a 65-year-old patient's upper jaw with a bone transplant cultivated from stem cells isolated from his own fatty tissue and grown inside his abdomen...Using a patient's own stem cells provides a tailor-made transplant that the body should not reject.
I can't think of anything pithy to write here, there are so many of these stories being reported these days. But we shouldn't let that make us sanguine about how remarkable moral regenerative medicine is turning out to be.

This is unbelievable. We should promote this as an embryonic stem cell success and see what kind of publicicity it generates:) There's one kind of news about research that fires the media up. It's the kind of research that trangreses the moral position of the Bishop of Rome. If stuff like this keeps getting ignored, I'm going to start believing that politicians and media don't really care about people getting help. They just care about ideology. I don't think that's too far off the mark.

I still think it's because people in the know want to legalize cloning so they can start replacing their own body parts as they get older, using a baby clone to get said body parts. Without the push for embryonic stem cell research, you can't get that, because if the adult stem cells do all the work, then what do you need to clone babies for? So, yeah...
