Zurich Hospital Forbids Assisted Suicide on Premises
This is the proper response to the legalization of assisted suicide: complete non participation by medical professionals at every level of care. Zurich University Hospital does not permit assisted suicides on premises. That is the honorable approach.
If A.B. 374 passes in California, hospitals like that in Zurich could do the same thing. But the California equivalent of a Zurich University Nursing Home, or Zurich Hospice could not. As written, most in patient or residential health facilities in CA would be forced to be complicit in assisted suicide by allowing them to occur on premises.

which is totally unfair because they shouldn't be under any obligation to do any such thing. Hospices are supposed to be trying to help people live and nursing homes that have permission to help with assisted suicides will do so and be happy to cover up any inappropriate deaths by calling them assisted suicides. Accidental deaths due to neglegance will be harder to prove or prosecute.
Y'know... I'm not supposed to want it but I wish that every person who ever signed in to push assisted suicide laws got stuck in a bad situation where they're constantly encouraged to die, not because I want them to, but because I want them to feel the dispare and pain and fear and worthlessness that they force other people to feel.
Tabs: I just wish they could see how profoundly destructive they are being, even though the believe they are being "compassionate." Well, many of them do. Some don't give a blank.
