As I get ready to fly to Dublin, I learn that chimpanzees are dancers too!

Ianthe -

....?

On the one hand, I don't want you distressed, 'cause I know you're passionate about protecting our four-legged children, so I'd mention that it's a Photoshop / CGI kind of thing, with monkey heads on the dancing bods of dudes in gorilla costumes...

...on the other hand, if you were joking, then let us sit together and watch the joke fly right over my head before I go hide under a rock and turn red with blushing.

Meep! I'll be under the rock if anybody needs me...

T.E.: I was just making my point. I don't like the idea. It's insulting to them anyway whether it's real apes or not. It's as creepy as the ads with the dancing babies, babies that talk like adults (which is not quite as bad), etc. It's just not right, not decent.

I should just stay under the rock.

See, it doesn't bother me because I don't mind anthrophomorphising animals. One could argue that animals have been treated like humans, or like the superior of humans, throughout history, by giving them human traits. So while I find this funny, it's not really any differnet to me than reading about Dancing Doe in Tsalagi ("Cherokee") mythology. Funny, but typical of demigod stories.

...the babies talking like adults thing *is* creepy, as is the dancing babies, I'll grant you that. Okay, I disagree, but I do see where you're coming from, and my disagreement comes from a different angle from yours, so all is good. <3
