Born Alive Infant "Botched Abortion" Doctor Loses License

I wrote yesterday about a terrible 2006 Florida case, in which an infant allegedly survived an attempted abortion only to be put in a medical waste bag by the owner of the clinic. The doctor didn't show up in time--resulting in the live birth of a baby girl at 23 weeks. Well, today he lost his medical license. From the story:

The Board of Medicine revoked the license of a Florida doctor on Friday accused of medical malpractice in a botched abortion in which a live baby was delivered, but ended up dead in a cardboard box. The board found Dr. Pierre Jean-Jacque Renelique in violation of Florida statutes by committing medical malpractice, delegating responsibility to unlicensed personnel, and failing to keep an accurate medical record.
The doctor did not kill the baby--well, his pre-abortion treatment led to the premature delivery, but that is legal--so I don't know if he faces any potential direct criminal culpability. Probably not. But it should not end here. The co-owner of the clinic who allegedly failed to call for help for the infant when she was born and instead just threw her away, and any staffers who conspired in the act and the subsequent apparent cover up, must face justice.

Not that I'm upset about it, but I'm wondering why this case has raised so much interest. Live births from abortions are literally an everyday occurrence. Most of the babies are probably just stuck aside and left to die without fanfare.

Why the sudden outrage over something about as new and shocking as a binge drinker's death alcohol poisoning?

On the other side of the coin, this reminds me of a lawyer who let his secretary do most of his work and then was faced with a law suit because the work was not performed properly.

I could go on and on but I think and hope that our learned friends know that if "IT" goes astray someone must eventually pay "The Piper."

Very interesting indeed!

Hey! I'm learning every day and I don't even have my "B.S."

Sure you do!

Who said that? :)

GranhyGrump: Actually, I think it is being very underplayed. It should be a much bigger story.

Wesley: I agree. It is precisely because it, like euthanasia of the elderly and the disabled, does happen every day without public awareness that when an instance does receive attention, as many people as possible have to be made aware of it to the greatest extent possible so that people come to realize that IS an everyday occurrence.

There should be more people screaming about this...murder of the pre-born,elderly and/or disabled!

This is such a sick society! Look at what they elect for President...a man who could care less about the life of pre-born babies...and I would imagine it would not be a stretch to say he cares nothing about the elderly and disabled!!!

Jan: Yes there should be. How do we get them to do it?

Let's not forget though, that this involved a born infant, which should be appalling to both pro life and pro choice people alike.
