Assisted Suicide Laws Will Never be Liberal Enough
One of the things I have come to understand about the euthanasia movement is that the law will never be loose enough to satiate the appetite of the ideologically committed for death on demand. As one example, when the Dutch formally legalized euthanasia, the very next day the Minister of Health opined that suicide pills should be made available to the elderly who are tired of living but don't qualify to be killed. Similarly, suicide tourism would continue to Switzerland even if the UK legalized assisted suicide for the terminally ill.
Last Rights Publications' in Canada went out of business some time ago, just after the 3rd edition of Final Exit was published. So ignore the information at the bottom of page 140 of my book about where to buy the helium hood kit. Instead, today a person may purchase the helium hood kit (not the tanks) for $60 USD either from: [addresses omitted]The callousness is beyond belief.
Supplying this equipment is not an ERGO [his suicide kit organization] project, but we have heard that both are reliable, with a fairly good turn-around time. Overseas price is the same = $60. Check, money order or cash. No internet or telephone orders. Both groups operate discreetly, low-key--quietly serving those in need

The WA form has this line "I understand that I have the right to rescind this request at any time." I wonder how long that will be in there or if there will come a time once you've made the decision you can't go back, that you also sign a provision saying once the proceding has started you can't go back. Sounds crazy, but so was everything else that pro-lifers predicted would happen that the culture of death has manifested.
Being a cynical type, I can't help but think of the suicide booths in Futurama...as usual, comedy and science fiction give us the shape of the future.
I still want to know, if suicide is so great, why doesn't the establishmeht make an effort to kill itself off in the name of helping others to accept it? I mean, if Derek Humphry likes suicide so much, and he pushes me into it, I'd love to tell him, "Only if you let me watch you go first."
If he chickens out, then it's proof that life is better than death and he's pushing a cold chicken at me. "Put your money where your mouth is."
T.E.: That's what I've been thinking too.
The callousness is beyond belief in laboratories where research on non-human animals takes place too.
And now it is in hospitals too.
