People From 82 Countries Have Visited SHS in the Last Few Days

Earlier this week, I posted a new feature on the site that counted unique visitors and the country each is from. The vast majority of those who come here are from the USA, Canada, the UK, and Australia. But I am honored to note that people from 82 countries have come here just since I added that feature. I am very pleased. I think bioethics and human exceptionalism are issues of great import everywhere in the world and I hope that this cyber community will become increasingly international in its scope and makeup.

Mr Smith

As you are now doubt aware the Vatican issued a major document on Biethical concerns today.

I have no idea if you are Catholic but the National Catholic Reporter (which has a history of biong contraian to the Hierarchy and the Vatican) had some major response titled "Scientist Reacts to Vatican Bioethics Paper ~ "

http://ncronline3.org/drupal/?q=node/2839

Now this Scientist is William B. Neaves. He appears to be in NCR a lot. WHy I do not know. Maybe because NCR is published in Kansas City and he is there too.

Anyway as I commented elsewhere the Pope issued a statement on Poverty today and went after the need for arms control. I said I am very doubtful that NCR would produce a article "Scients reacts to Pope's Call to attack Poverty" and not really disclose that the Scientist was CEO of a company that made surface to air missles.

It appears he is CEO of several Medical corporation and I am not sure what potential monetary interest he has if any in all this. I do note he was in the thick of the deabte in Missouri and I noticed at another site you said you did not feel too highly on him

Since he appears now to be someone that the newspapaers will go and get reaction from I would be curious as to your thoughts on his reaction and what we should be prepared for

James H: I don't get into religion or comment on the Catholic Church's policy positions. However, I do know of Dr. Neaves and have debated him. I think very lowly of his views and his approach to public advocacy.
