Palin's Daughter Pregnant: Doesn't Consider the Baby a "Punishment"

Everything is Oprah!

Apparently, Governor Sarah Palin's daughter is pregnant and will marry the father. From the story:

"We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us," the Palins' statement said. "Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support," the Palins said.
I don't know how this will impact the campaign, if at all. But look for there to be a sharp contrast drawn between the Palin family's loving acceptance of the new child, with Senator Barack Obama's statement that he wouldn't want his daughters "punished with a baby" if they made a "mistake."

As I ponder all of this, I think McCain/Palin versus Obama/Biden vividly reflects the cultural divisions that are tearing our society apart more starkly than any election in my memory.

I'm disgusted to think that Obama is such a complete and utter jackass that he actuall thinks that any child being born is a punishment. So what he's saying was he was a punishment to his mother for having pre-marital teen sexual intercourse. I cannot fathom why someone would make such an assanine statement...But then again, look at who we are talking about...

I should imagine the right wing would very much understand the concept of sin and punishment in the context of an unwanted teen pregnancy.

Whereas those of us on the left understand that contraception and the avoidance of unwanted teen pregnancy is a blessing.

:p

There is a difference between punishment and consequence. Of course there are difficulties that come along with teen parenthood, but to say that God created any human as a punishment to another human is silly. God can make good out of any situation. Also, I think we should stop using blessing to mean what we want it to mean. A blessing is a gift from God, and His Word tells us that sex is only meant for those inside the bonds of marriage. Therefore, to say that contraception as an avoidance to teen pregnancy is a blessing goes against the nature of God.
