Media Fooled About Stem Cell Story?

Alright, I have read the Nature article and the breathless stories in the media about how the embryonic stem cell debate is over because ES cell lines can be obtained without destroying embryos. I have three preliminary words in response: Ba Low Nee. What is being reported in the MSM and what is actually written up in Nature appear to be not the same thing at all.

I plan to investigate this some more, talk to some scientists, and if I am right, blow my top.

What would be the upshot if ACT really grew the embryonic stem cell line? Would they be able to create the genetic diversity needed for mass cures by using all of the leftover embryos in fertility labs? Would it require mass production of embryos to create that diversity? Could they get away from cloning-cloning to kill?

Don and all readers of Secondhand Smoke: I will have a piece on the false reporting of this story in the upcoming Weekly Standard. ACT didn't do what the media its own press release said they did. Definitely.
