Free the Finned 50,000!

Animal rights activists are suspected of having "liberated" 50,000 farmed fish in the UK. What a pathetic joke. With all the human misery in the world, one would think these fanatics would have something more important to care about than fish being raised for release into a resevoir where many would eventually be caught and fried up for dinner. This is a small, but telling, illustration of how truly twisted many in the animal liberation movement have become.

I agree. There are lots of crazy crackpots on both sides of the political isle. Obsessing about fish in a hatchery seems misguided.

But I would also give the same criticism to many in the so-called "pro-life" community. Notably the abortion clinic bombers, the Terri Schiavo protesters, and those that make such a fuss that discarding human embryos is somehow murder.

Unfortunately, too much politics is guided by the fringes on all sides, and not a rational and balanced moderate approach.

There is no excuse for bombings. Period. Protesting the dehydration of Terri Schiavo was as reasonable as protesting the death penalty. One can oppose therapeutic cloning and not see ESCR as akin to murder. It is unethical, in my view, to use any human life as a commodity to be harvested, particularly to create that human life for the purpose of using it as a commodity.
